These are the fingernails of my 6th right after she was born. They are so long!
Most newborns already have pretty long fingernails and they can easily scratch themselves if their nails aren't cut. It's funny though that the hospitals I've been in would not provide fingernail clippers. I sort of understand why. It is very easy to accidentally overcut the baby's nail which could cause it to bleed, but if you're careful, you can cut them without much trouble. One of the nurses actually told me that I should bite my baby's fingernails off. Really? I just waited until I went home and cut them with fingernail clippers.
