A Little About Me

Titus 2:4-5
"That they [aged women] may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed."

A Little About Me

First of all, I'm a Bible believer. I have trusted in Christ's death on the cross as payment for my sin and endeavor to live my life pleasing to him.

Secondly, I'm a wife of 11 years. If you've ever read Help Meet by Debi Pearl, my husband would be a Mr. Visionary. He is not the kind of person who is satisfied with the way things are, but wants to see improvements to any problems. Our marriage has certainly not been easy, but by God's grace we still love each other. He loves learning and trying new things, and I have the pleasure of being his support from home.

My 3rd born meets my 6th born on the day of her birth.

Thirdly, I'm a mother of 6 children currently ages 10, 8, 7, 6, 5 and 3 - five boys and then a girl. We had our children one right after the other. For a few weeks we actually had 6 children ages 6 and under. So needless to say, I am a busy mother. But unless God surprises us with more, we are not planning to have more and I find myself at the cross roads to another stage of life. I have been pregnant and/or breastfeeding for 9 years (minus 3 months after the miscarriage of our honeymoon baby) and I feel like I'm crawling out from under a rock. What?! There are people out there beyond the 4 walls of my house?! Well, not quite that bad, but almost.

9 months pregnant with my 6th.

Fourthly, I'm a teacher. I'm homeschooling our children. This year I have a 5th grader, 3rd grader, 2nd grader, and 1st grader... and 2 preschoolers. I'm an eclectic homeschooler, which just means I pick and choose what curriculum I want to use and put it all together. I started out with a phonics curriculum (Sing, Spell, Read & Write), added on a math (Rightstart Math), and have since added on some handwriting (A Reason for Handwriting), and grammar (Easy Grammar). For side subjects, we also have history (Story of the World) and science (I liked Aplogia's Exploring Creation series and have since moved on to Berean Builder's Science in the... series). We also do some electives. I lived in a Spanish speaking country during my high school and felt confident to teach my children Spanish and found this awesome course by Bob Jones called Pasaporte al Espanol. I also learned piano growing up and although I never got past the grade 4 books, felt that I could at least get my kids started in piano so have been using Bastien Piano Basics. If they get beyond what I can teach, then I'll have to get them a piano teacher. We have been doing geography, but I'm just making it up as I go. We did Canada geography 2 years ago and have since been doing USA geography the last 2 years.

I am many other things as most moms are: house cleaner, cook, dish washer, launderer, medic, etc. I hope to share things from my life that I hope might be a blessing to other women.
