I made a few little booklets by folding three 8 1/2" x 11" pieces of paper in half and with a needle and thread sewing down the middle.
At first, I was cutting the pictures out of construction paper getting their involvement by helping them think of things to cut out of that colour and also by letting them glue the pictures onto the page.
Then we got them their own pairs of scissors and they began cutting out their own shapes. They were very imaginative. Most of the shapes here are houses, trees and boats.
It's really great practice for them with the scissors even though their shapes are very crude.
For white, I prepared the page by pasting a piece of black construction paper on it so that the white would show up against it.
