Drinking Water

Recommendations say you should drink 8 glasses of water each day, but I have never been a person to drink much water. I would rather have milk or juice than try to drink a glass of water. I have a cup or two of coffee everyday and usually a glass of milk and a smoothie and maybe some juice or tea, but I probably only drink a half glass of water in a day. And that totals my liquid intake. That's pretty sad especially considering I'm breastfeeding.

But instead of trying to make myself drink 8 glasses of water everyday... I don't think I'll do it if I aim that high... I'm setting a low goal of 2 glasses a day to start. (I like to start with a goal that I actually believe I can attain.)

I have a couple ideas to help myself accomplish this. One is to drink it with a straw. I don't know why I find it so much easier to drink more through a straw, but I do. And another is to take a glass with me (with a straw in it) to sip on when I sit down to take a break.

Cheers!

  1. Milk, juice and smoothies count as part of the 8 glasses of water intake but coffee has a negative effect. Soups and fruit also count but you most certainly do need to drink more liquids as a nursing mother. Take baby steps and try to increase slowly! Your body needs liquids so it can function efficiently.
